University of Glasgow - ECON2001: Economics 2A (Solutions)

This intermediate Microeconomics course is designed for students preparing for Honours in Economics and builds upon the foundational concepts taught in ECON1001 (Economics 1A). It explores key topics such as consumer behaviour, firm behaviour, game theory, and decision-making under uncertainty in greater depth. The course aims to familiarise students with economic thinking and a model-based approach to market analysis. It also provides a solid foundation in intermediate microeconomic analysis and builds familiarity with essential tools of consumption and production theory, market operations, and optimisation in an economic context.

By the end of the course, students will be able to apply economic models to explain consumer and firm decision-making processes. They will be able to analyse core concepts and theories related to production and market structure, demonstrate an understanding of the main principles and outcomes of game theory and uncertainty, and apply microeconomic tools and reasoning to evaluate economic issues and external developments.
